He has been playing a little game, acting like he doesn't care, and picking fights with her. Taylor is not going to put up with this forever. She is going to slip through his hands soon and he won't find her anymore. This song has a very pretty chorus melody.

All Night Diner (A)- It's important to appreciate your true love and not take that person for granted. Taylor spends a whole day in the song reflecting on the boy she loves and realizes that without him, she would be like a stranger in an all-night diner. What could be lonelier?

All Of the Girls (S)- 1st of 2 songs dropped from the Lover album. Starting out with a catchy drum loop and then keyboard, Taylor begins by singing about how she and the man she loves had parallel past lives. Previous relationships they were each in did not go well. However, the stars aligned and their lives intertwined. Instead of despising the girls that her man dated previously, Taylor is thankful for them. Those girls have made him the person he is today and resulted in them now being together. My favorite line in the song is: 'A heart is drawn around your name in someone's handwriting not mine'. This song more than any other I've heard shows off Taylor's incredible vocal range. At the end of the bridge, her vocals soar impressively high.

American Boy (A)- Sweet song about the simple things in life important to a young girl, such as mom baking cookies and viewing dad as a hero. Has an uplifting reminder that no matter what happens in this world, don't let it destroy your hopes and dreams. And when you find and fall in love with an American boy or American beauty, view them as sent from above.

Angelina (A)- Likely written for one of Taylor's friends or schoolmates in Pennsylvania. Taylor discusses all of the ways in which she is different from Angelina, who may have won the heart of the boy Taylor was interested in.

Anymore (A)- Taylor is having trouble singing, sleeping, and moving her body after being pushed away by the boy she loves. When he walked out the door, it left Taylor with broken wings, but she doesn't hate him or hold bad feelings toward him over it. In the chorus of this song, Taylor draws out the notes in a way that is enchanting and takes you away to another place.

Baby Blue (A)- Taylor tells the fascinating story of a blonde girl who grows up from being a baby, to being 18 years old, and then getting married. Throughout her life, the color blue has a strong appeal to her and impacts her in different ways. For instance, when she was little, she had a baby blue gown, boots, sheets, other clothes, and changed the color of her walls from pink to blue. At 18, she fell in love with a boy named Hank who took her to the prom, kissed her hand, and expressed his love. They later got married and had their own newborn baby. Being a new mom, she became a 'lullaby hummer' as she counted her blessings and was living for love.

Being With My Baby (A & S)- Taylor sets a perfect scene on a quiet summer night where she's sitting on the hood of a car with the boy she loves counting stars and fireflies. When you're spending time with the person you love, it can make the world spin faster and you wish you could slow things down because nothing's quite like being with your 'baby'.

Better Off (S)- We've all been interested in somebody who our friends did not approve of and warned us about. Even if our friends have the best of intentions, we may not have listened to them or taken their advice.

Brand New World (A)- Each new day brings with it the opportunity to change our lives for the better, we don't have to be defined by our past. It's up to each of us to keep trying to write that happy ending.

Brought Up That Way (A & Sx2)- In this song we join Emily and her daddy on their emotional journey through some very difficult events in her young life. Emily has to deal with bullying at school, being mistreated by her boyfriend, and being in a life-threatening car accident caused by a drunk driver. The extremely rare duet version adds feeling and emotional depth to this great song, as a male country artist sings the chorus lines with Taylor providing background harmonies.

By the Way (A)- Heart wrenching acoustic guitar sets the mood for this song of tremendous emotional sadness. The words haunt you long after because there is so much pain in Tay's voice. Her heart is still breaking over words left unsaid and it's going to take her a while to be able to love again. All of her hurt feelings flood back into her mind as she sees the boy she once had feelings for, but he's now with another girl.

Can I Go With You (S)- Quite possibly the first recorded song Taylor ever wrote the lyrics to. A heartfelt appeal by a young daughter overcome by sadness to go with her daddy, who is leaving soon.

Check Out This View (A)- A song of lost love and missing the special feeling that comes from looking into that person's eyes. Views of a beautiful beach with crashing waves are great, but nothing compares to seeing the person that you love.

Closest To a Cowboy (A)- Lyrics which evoke vivid mental imagery. As the song starts, Tay is driving around town alone in her mustang with the top down. She thought she'd be driving off into the sunset with a cowboy, but it didn't happen. The cowboy she met had a bad influence on her and broke her heart so she's keeping her distance now. I love the lines about fishing from a riverbank and swimming in a water tank.

Cross My Heart (S)- It can be hard to patiently wait, keep hoping for, and even dream about what it will be like to finally fall in love with the perfect person. Can believing in miracles or visiting wishing wells help? This is an acoustic song but it was recorded in the studio.

Dark Blue Tennessee (Sx2)- Two people who were once in love have broken up and moved on in their lives. Yet, they still have feelings for each other and they say how much they miss the other person. The only problem is that they are speaking when the other person is not listening. They are too afraid to express it directly to the person, so they stay apart in dark blue Tennessee.

Diary of Me (S)- Some very witty lyrics that are well thought-out and full of catchy phrases that Taylor uses to describe herself. She doesn't pretend to be somebody she's not. Taylor is an open book, she's not afraid to allow somebody to look inside of her. What the boy sees in her is what he will get. It's almost as if he's holding the key to her personal diary and gets to read through it.

Didn't They (A)- Taylor sings to God in this heartfelt, emotional tribute to the victims of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks. An unforgettable masterpiece told from different perspectives on that day which will give you chills and leave you in tears the first few times that you listen to it. Perhaps the best lyrics she has ever written.

Don't Hate Me For Loving You (A)- Taylor doesn't hold back from any subject when it comes to pouring out her heart in a song. Even when she's sharing details of events like a painful argument with her mom, being caught having a crush on a guy, or pouring out her heart to God and hoping for an answer.

Don't You (P)- A melancholy piano demo with haunting vocals that have a sadness and longing to them. This was likely recorded in 2005 and was probably considered for the first album. Taylor runs into her ex and feels pain because it brings back so many hurt feelings and sad emotions. She feels that she still loves him and wonders why he doesn't feel the same way. She will try her best to go on with her life. (Note: In addition to our piano demo with Taylor on vocals, we also have two studio recordings, one guitar-based and one piano-based, with non-Taylor vocals.)

Down Came the Rain (S)- Nobody writes about relationships better than Taylor, and here she uses the wind, rain, lightning, and thunder to draw parallels with a failed romance. Kisses become scars when the rain drenches the burning flame of their love. (Note: Taylor co-wrote this song but does not sing vocals on the demo.)

Fall Back On You (A)- Have you ever tried to turn the page and move on from somebody, but found it too difficult and kept coming back to them? Tay did in this song and realizes that either they truly belong together or it won't last and she will haunt him like a ghost.

Firefly (A)- Fireflies are cherished by Tay, as they appear frequently in her songs. She wrote an entire song here to a firefly she found outside one night and finds parallels with her own life. She's drawn to the firefly because it has such beauty and lights up the sky, and wishes she could keep it.

For You (A)- Provides great insight into Tay's development and growth as a songwriter. Something clearly evident in this song is that Taylor had great range in her voice at a young age. In this song, she is thanking somebody who has done nice things for her and helped her when she really needed it. The person was never looking for a thank you, but Taylor wrote this song to thank them.

Goodbye Butterfly (A)- Taylor reflects back on her ex who used to sing songs to her while they sat in his old white Jeep. But she wants to stop thinking about him and remember what he did when he left her behind, which caused her to stand there with tears in her eyes and say goodbye to love. My favorite part of this song is where it describes Taylor as driving down the interstate, trying to pull back her hair while it flies around everywhere.

Gracie (A)- The emotional and sensitive true story of a 5 year old girl named Gracie and her mother and father. Gracie has been suffering with leukemia and spending a lot of time in hospitals. Taylor has such a beautiful heart to write a song for this family who has experienced so much pain.

Her (A)- An extremely rare and precious gem within our collection. This song expands upon and is an apparent prequel to Teardrops On My Guitar, with the 'her' in this song likely being the same girl Drew talked to Taylor about. The storyline is much the same, revolving around a conversation that is quickly getting old with Taylor. But lots of details are filled in as we learn about the girl's physical appearance, her personality, where she came from, activities she enjoys doing, and her future potential. Such a unique track with lots of worktape banter.

Honey Baby (S)- Early acoustic demo with pretty romantic expressions throughout. Sometimes when we are in love, our romantic thoughts and feelings can keep us awake at night. Taylor tries to walk away, or think about other things, but she gets pulled back into thoughts of her true love and times they have shared together.

I Bet You Think About Me (A)- Taylor shares the contrasts between her life growing up and that of the boy she loves. He grew up in a silver spoon gated community and she was raised on a farm. Despite them being in love, reality set in and he realized they were too different to stay together forever. This is perhaps the most valuable and rare unreleased song in our collection. The chord progression and vocal melodies are incredibly beautiful throughout. The vocal lines tend to play over and over in my head long after listening to the song.

I Know What I Want (S)- This song is done in a very rowdy country style. It's definitely better to be one of Taylor's friends, instead of one of her enemies. We find out that Taylor loves to blast her music with the windows down so she can scream. She's singing to a guy who loves looking into the mirror at himself and sounds very self absorbed. She always gets what she wants, but it ain't him.

I Used to Fly (A)- One of the earliest written ballads by Taylor. Taylor feels like she is flying when she is happy and feeling needed and wanted. But when she's lonely, she still tries to pretend everything is okay. She wants to appear strong on the outside and doesn't want anybody to see her crying tears. She finally realizes that it's okay to admit that we need the support of others during hard times.

I Wished On a Plane (A)- Based on a mistake that teenage girls sometimes make when they wish upon a plane flying overhead in the night sky, mistaking it for a star. There are some pretty lyrics about trying to throw pennies into a fountain while standing on a mountain. She spends the song trying to figure out why it didn't work out with her true love.

I'd Lie (S)- A long-time, well known fan favorite. Not expected to ever be officially released due to certain reasons. But it doesn't matter, because everybody already has a copy of this great song.

In the Pouring Rain (A)- Taylor loved someone and it could have worked except he messed up and changed everything, which brought on the pouring rain. Even though it kills her heart to sing about this, she might still love him. The next time you are walking in a rainstorm, try to imagine that the raindrops falling on you are the teardrops of someone you hurt.

Just South of Knowing Why (S)- Very moody music. Sometimes making a change in life and getting a fresh start can repair a damaged heart and bring peace of mind to a troubled soul. Have you ever felt like getting in your car and driving as far away from home as you possibly can?

Let's Go (S)- When this Speak Now album era demo surfaced in 2018, it caught rare song collectors by surprise. Taylor was in a relationship that has completely deteriorated. She has been taking blows and shots by someone who has broken a promise. The person was not who she thought he was and now she's in the ring with her gloves off ready to stand up for herself and do battle.

Live For the Little Things (A)- An adorable song because Taylor shares a long list of things that were really important to her when she was 12 or 13. She sings about bubble baths, a firefly in the clear midnight sky, a blue bonnet with a braid, and her red flower ring. It's really sweet when she urges everyone to wish upon a star and give the moon a smile.

Long Time Coming (S)- Is it better to fall in love and get your heart broken, or never to fall in love in the first place? Taylor debates that question. She has waited a long time, half of her life, to find someone like this. But then after he left, she spent a long time trying to get over what happened.

Look At You Like That (A)- Emotions rise to the surface and boil over because of devastating pain, hurt feelings, and a tormented heart. Taylor spent so much time thinking a boy was hers and loved him very much, but he pulled a sneak attack on her and broke her heart. He wanted to remain friends, but she's making it clear that the end is the end and wants him to visibly see how much she was hurt.

Love They Haven't Thought Of Yet (A)- Shakespeare-written boys may not be Taylor's type, but she certainly knows what kind of love she is looking for. And when she falls in love, it would take place under a fairytale sky.

Love to Lose (A)- When somebody is hurting you continuously in different ways, it makes it worse to take the abuse and keep it all inside. Especially when you are crying tears, having sleepless nights, and always being blamed for what goes wrong.

Lucky You (Sx2)- Apparently the first song that Taylor ever wrote both the music and lyrics to. World famous producer Mr. Mig told us he produced the radio station Promo CD version of this song.

Made Up You (A)- A very pretty acoustic guitar-based romantic lullaby. What if the person you fall in love with turns out to be better than you always dreamed them up to be? It would be amazing to get everything you've always wanted and more.

Making Up For Lost Love (S)- A piano-based, heavily protected rare song. Sometimes we don't figure things out or know how we really feel until we are already deeply involved over our heads. Taylor is ready to be someone's summer midnight with starry blue eyes and a crooked smile. Who loves like Taylor does? Lyrics from this song are printed on the Houston Rodeo T-shirt.

Mandolin (A)- Written about a boy who played a red mandolin on Friday nights at Angelina's Family Bar and Grill. Provides some interesting insights into his humble life and the passion he puts into the music that he plays for crowds who love him.

Matches (A)- Taylor is dealing with somebody who turned out to be a cheater, liar, loser, and deceiver, among other things. All this, after she did everything for him. So when love hands Taylor matches, she's going to burn it down.

Me and Britney (A)- Taylor and her friend Britney used to sit on the front porch drinking lemonade and sharing secrets. Britney may have moved to Memphis, but the bond that she shares with Taylor can't ever be broken by time, distance, or falling in love with boys.

My Cure (A & S)- As an acoustic demo, the song is very sentimental and Tay feels unworthy of her true love's affection. In the country-pop studio version lyric change, she becomes more confident and refuses to be left behind.

My Turn to Be Me (A)- Fellow students at Taylor's school are mistreating her and trying to make her conform to what they think is cool. Because she didn't fit into their perfect world, something mean was written about her on the school wall for everyone to see. They also don't approve of her loving and singing country music. Even the boy she liked tried to control and change her. But she is standing up for herself against all of them.

Nashville (A)- The lyrics, music, vocals, song structure, and story line all combine to create what I consider to be the best song Taylor has ever written, out of both her unreleased and released songs. This is the holy grail of all unreleased Taylor Swift songs and the only song I've ever listened to on repeat for one hour straight. With a midnight setting, we find out what it is that Taylor loves most about Nashville. This song is completely different from the live cover song 'Nashville' Taylor released on her Speak Now World Tour Live CD. This is an original Taylor song.

Need (S)- 2nd of 2 songs dropped from the Lover album. The music is unlike any other Taylor song with the chords played in a unique way starting and stopping (sometimes with vocal effects added over). Taylor gives fascinating insight into her thoughts on want, desire, passion, lust, danger, and fear. What Taylor needs most is to be with the man she loves. It's essential, like breathing for her. The music is stripped down during the bridge. A really good song that would have fit well on the album and perhaps been a fan favorite.

Need You Now (S)- It's not fair for somebody to put effort into a relationship only when they need something out of it. True love is all about giving, it's a two-way street, not a one-way street.

Never Fade (A)- Somebody Taylor knows was sitting on a cloud and had everything. But suddenly they fell from the sky and lost it all. The mask they were wearing was broken and the breeze swept them away. With their candle blown out, all that is left is Taylor. Now it's time for them to make a decision. Will they fade away and dwell on days past or will they make the days ahead of them with Taylor in their future count?

Never Mind (A & Sx2)- Banjo and fiddle heavy, this has amazing instrumentation. The boy in the song lost the chance to hear what Taylor had to say. Makes you think about the risks and pressures that come with the decision to either express romantic interest or accept just being friends.

One Thing (S)- Sometimes romance is not like it is shown in movies. You can almost feel the person slipping through your hands, and you might be scared of how it all will end, but you need to preserve your dignity and walk away.

Perfect Have I Loved (A)- Romantic, sweet, and sentimental all the way through. It's special to think that if two people swear by the freckles on the moon that they can stay together until they are old. Taylor reflects back on experiences shared with her true love, like the time when they got their truck stuck in the creek.

Permanent Marker (S)- When Taylor recorded the studio version, she decided to drop the bridge from the song. Not releasing this song officially in some capacity was a missed opportunity, because even the live version became legendary. And the fans loved this song so much.

Point of View (A)- A fascinating study of how each of us look at others and situations in our lives from different viewpoints. The reality of our lives can be what we make it out to be in our minds. What other people think or how they perceive us doesn't really matter. What one person thinks is perfect, someone else thinks doesn't work. Our views of time, love, and art can be completely different than the next person. Who is right?

Pretty Words (S)- Someone is trying to impress Taylor and win her over with smooth talk and pretty words. She is like a stone that he is trying to chip away at. He claims to be all that she will ever need and says he can help her make sense of everything. But she's not a stupid girl who goes chasing pretty words. (Note: Taylor co-wrote this song but does not sing vocals on the demo.)

R-E-V-E-N-G-E (S)- Once again an extremely commercial song which would be an instant classic and hit single on the radio. This is the coolest way that words have ever been spelled out in a song. Incredibly witty and original, as Taylor describes how she will be getting revenge.

Rain Song (A)- Taylor is having a conversation with her mirror about a tragic mistake she has made. She still loves the person that she has let go and didn't realize it until the clouds were above her head. She made the wrong choice. Can it be corrected?

Same Girl (A)- Ties in well with 'My Turn to Be Me', because that song was about Taylor refusing to change or be controlled and this song is about Taylor staying the same and being true to who she is. Taylor opens up and reveals that she loves to wear blue jeans, believe in her feelings, sing songs early in the morning, keep a diary of each day, and my personal favorite... pick daisies in the field.

Smokey Black Nights (Sx2)- Taylor wrote both the music and lyrics to this song, which is incredible. The maturity level of the lyrics is far beyond her age when she wrote this, showcasing her early great talent. Like the part where she is standing at the beach, watching the waves, and wondering what a piece of driftwood has seen throughout its lifetime.

Songs About You (S)- It's interesting that Taylor wrote and titled a song about something that she is most famous for. You could say that this is her theme song. Taylor reveals that writing songs about people who have hurt her can help her to get over them.

Stupid Boy (A)- This is the angriest that Taylor has ever sounded in a song. The horrible behavior by a boy got under her skin so much that she couldn't take it any more. He was everything to her, but she was just a toy to him.

Spinning Around (A)- One of the most famous unreleased songs due to the fact that clips of the chorus have been played on documentaries. Taylor is interested in a boy but as time passes he fails to notice her and she feels like she is disappearing. If he would just take this chance, he could see that looking into the eyes of someone you love is like seeing another planet. This love interest has Taylor spinning around, tangled, and tied up.

Sugar (A)- Perhaps the first song which Taylor wrote lead guitar for, as she plays a beautiful lead intro before the vocals start. A sweet and beautiful love song between a southern belle and a rock-out king. Both the girl and boy feel they have found the perfect love in each other. He calls her 'sugar' and guys can take a lesson from this song. Make sure you tell your girl that you love her and that you think about her all the time.

Sweet Tea & God's Graces (A & S)- A stand-out track with the potential to be the lead single from an album. How long will it be until the massive potential of this song is unleashed? Imagine laying in the grass, looking up at the clouds with the sweet scent of honeysuckle in the air.

Tell Me (A & S)- What a nightmare it is when the person you are in love with and dating suddenly changes their mind about you and is no longer interested. What can make the break-up worse is if they don't have the courage to tell you or even say goodbye.

Ten Dollars and a Six-Pack (A & S)- Imagine that your mother and everybody else told you that the person you were interested in was bad news. What would you be willing to bet to prove them wrong? This is such a fun song, with some of my favorite lyrics and vocals ever.

Tennessee (A)- The definitive transition song from Taylor's younger years. It stars Taylor and her cat Eloise as they take a sentimental journey to various places on Taylor's Wyomissing farm. Taylor enjoys the outdoors on her family farm, but her heart wishes to be in Tennessee. Taylor's songwriting growth stands out here and we sense her feelings firsthand as her love for Pennsylvania turns into a greater love for Tennessee.

That's Life (A)- A young Taylor is beginning to ponder the realities of how life turns out. Why are some girls prettier? Why is there betrayal? Why do innocent children suffer? She feels like she is brave enough to overcome any push and shove in her own life, but she's not sure if she's qualified to take on love. Taylor is wondering if she'll ever understand why things turn out the way they do, or if she'll be driven crazy just thinking about it.

That's When (A)- A spectacular demo featuring the Warren brothers (Brad and Brett) performing with Tay and singing background vocals. The song tells the story of a guy who needs some time and space to think about being in a relationship, which causes the girl great pain.

Thinkin' Bout You (P)- Piano based with an almost bluesy or gospel feel to it. Thinking about the person you love can be very distracting. It can make you walk into a chair, get lost while driving, or even not talk straight. Taylor's silliness and sense of humor is on display here.

Thirteen Blocks (S)- Excellent use of electric guitars in a fitting country style, crossing over into rock during the solo. Interesting to hear the way that the number 13 is prominent. It can be troubling when you need to make a decision about somebody and time is running out.

This Here Guitar (A)- A stand-out early years demo with the potential to be a massive commercial hit. As Taylor is walking downtown daydreaming one day, she spots an old damaged guitar that she buys and takes home. She sings about this memorable moment in the officially released documentary clip, where she explains 'store windows travel for miles, but something I passed really caught my eye. It was cracked...' Taylor's guitar becomes her only friend and she ponders 12 questions about its past. In time, the guitar teaches her lasting life lessons.

This Is Really Happening (A & S)- Tay obviously appreciates it when somebody puts forth great effort to treat her right in special ways. Co-writer Blu Sanders told us he is hoping Taylor will release this someday. The acoustic version is unbelievably beautiful to listen to.

This One's Different (A)- The singer reflects back on how there can be really bad days and nights where it seems like everything goes wrong. But things can change for the better in a single moment when we meet the perfect person. The story in this song culminates in a romantic proposal and wedding. This song is unique because Taylor only sings background vocals and the story is told from the boy's perspective.

Til Brad Pitt Comes Along (A)- In the full version of this track, Taylor shares a series of hilarious events which took place between her and a boy. The second verse is extremely funny and revolves around the horror movie 'Carrie'. This is such an awesome, fun song to listen to.

Under My Head (A)- Taylor has been trying to get her heels back under her head after meeting an amazing guy. He is great looking with hypnotic eyes and an amazing hairstyle. His charming ways have melted Taylor and taken her breath away.

Wait For Me (Sx2)- This may be the greatest ballad that Taylor has ever written. It is a tale of forbidden love and it's impossible not to sing along with. The song has such an emotional impact on you that by the end, you desperately want the girl and boy to end up together. After 'Nashville', this is my personal 2nd favorite song Taylor has ever written. We also have an alternate studio version which adds Tay's background harmonies.

We Were Happy (P & S)- Taylor + a full orchestra = an amazing listening experience. It's incredible how many songs this good may never get the chance to be heard. Taylor reflects on some very special experiences she once shared with the person she loved back when they were happy.

Welcome Distraction (S)- Another excellent co-write with the Warren Bros., this radio friendly song tells the story of a girl who is in control of her life and emotions until she meets the perfect guy. Then the more she fights her feelings, the stronger they get, because she is in love with him.

What Do You Say (S)- If this song were to be released as a single, the country music industry would be stunned and all of Taylor's critics would have to crawl back into the holes which they came out of. Energetic and fun from beginning to end.

What to Wear (S)- Another fan favorite, as many have heard this due to its availability on a rare promo CD. It gives a wonderful description of what it feels like to prepare for and then wait for a special moment to arrive. Very fast paced and potentially a huge hit.

Who I've Always Been (A & S)- Taylor gets sassy in a fun way when comparing herself to the high school prom queen. Both became singers but took much different paths to get there. I love the description of Taylor's guitar, guitar case, and lyric writing in this song. Extremely country.

You All Over Me (S)- Taylor uses some interesting ways to describe how she continues to be affected long-term by a failed relationship. She's having trouble moving on despite how badly she got burned, how many tears she has lost, and how much time she has wasted. Your Anything (A)- Taylor would be willing to give everything and change who she is for the boy she is in love with. Most fans know this song because Taylor performed it live in Anaheim on January 21, 2005. However, nobody had ever heard the demo until we received it. The demo is fascinating as it reveals less polished lyrics and contains the missing line from the NAMM performance. During the performance, Taylor messed up at the beginning of the 2nd verse and actually sang the second line as the first line. She laughed when she realized what she had done. This extremely rare demo reveals the missing lyrics.
