By the early 1980’s, It become obvious that, in South Africa in particular, Surveyors had a need for desk top computing facilities to enable them keep up with the ever growing world of electronic devices. To this end, SURPAC Software was first commercially marketed in 1982. At that stage, the entire SURPAC software suite was installed onto a 5″ floppy disk and ran on non-graphic, desk top computers using first generation, 8 bit processors.

Over the past 35 years, SURPAC Software has been continually expanded and improved. Faster and better computer processors, operating systems and programming languages have enabled SURPAC to grow into a comprehensive suite of applications, covering virtually all fields of survey computations and draughting.

Currently, SURPAC runs under the Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 8 and Microsoft Windows 10 operating systems.

To date over 8,000 SURPAC Modules have been sold.
